A band of hand-picked and highly prolific hunters, tasked with bringing down some of the most fearsome beasts and monsters in the realm. The most elite in the business, they have carved a name for themselves throughout Eorzea, one bounty at a time.

______________________________________Welcome to the GLADIUS Monster Hunting Coalition, serving Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, Ala Mhigo, Doma, Ishgard, Ul'dah, and Sharlayan. They're not the best, but they'll take the rest! While that may...occasionally mean being contracted on a hunt that turns out to be just a lost pet stuck in a tree, the Coalition is on the case!We are a small, welcoming community of friendly, experienced, casual roleplayers who offer easily digestible RP experiences and character growth opportunities through engaging (and sometimes humorous) storytelling in a humble, 'realistic' setting within the world of Final Fantasy XIV. An abandoned forge-turned-warehouse that sits upon the outskirts of Ishgard has recently become just another stop on the way for many a freelancer, merc, hunter, chirurgeon, or other morally-grey traveler.But for reasons all their own, some that pass through its aged doors may linger for a time, and perhaps choose to form an alliance -- temporary or otherwise -- with those they meet within. Be it for coin, glory, research, or trade, every story is unique, and how each inevitably intertwines, even moreso.Welcome to the Coalition.

The Rose & Heart

A (surprisingly) clean and cozy tavern tucked away down a quiet alley in the backstreets of Ishgard, The Rose & Heart is the unofficial watering hole of the Gladius Monster Hunting Coalition. It offers a warm fire, somewhat comfy seats, and hearty food and drink to warm the the body and temper the soul after a perilous journey or dangerous hunt.

* You took a room at the inn after a big job and find like-minded individuals in the vicinity.
* You're trying to make some shady deal or gamble with whatever poor sucker(s) are getting a drink that evening.
* You got drunk and all eyes are on you because you find yourself dancing atop the bar or getting into a brawl (warning: you may be thrown out).

THE ROLEPLAY

o Casual, laid-back, high-quality RP ranging from comical to dark/mature.o A focus on character growth, interpersonal development, and story-driven engagements for low-to-medium powered characters of all types from across Eorzea.o Monthly hunts with contained story arcs that never exceed ~2 events, so you never have to worry about jumping into a long-term complex storyline halfway through or catching up on FC lore when you aren't around.o Support, opportunities, and infrastructure for different types of player-driven roleplay (jobs/hunts, social, personal arcs, etc) between monthly FC-hosted events.o No hierarchies or rankings; newcomers are not forced to start 'at the bottom', nor answer to higher authorities/veteran members. Hunters, freelancers, mercs, medics, researchers, and everything in between work together to pursue open hunt contracts from across the realm, their reasons each their own.o A basic combat system focused on RP (courtesy of Wayward Acquisitions), where character individuality and expression is prioritized; simple character sheets without multiple tabs to keep track of during events.
______________________________________Note: We are a small group of creative writers and we do not have a beginner-friendly infrastructure. We strongly recommend that you only join us if you have strong collaborative writing skills and confidence in developing characters and storylines independently.We love workshopping characters and ideas, discussing plots, and providing opportunities and tools for different types of roleplay, but those who struggle to develop their characters independently, have difficulty knowing how to interact with plots, or prefer simply reacting to posts / waiting for things to happen around them may struggle here.

THE RULES

- LGBTQIA+ friendly. No derogatory jokes, hate speech, inflammatory comments, general dickishness, etc, toward any group, culture, or beliefs.- 21+ only, and no OOC drama, harassment, disrespect, or consent violations. We mean it. We are too old and too tired.- No underage characters, and no sexualization of lalafell regardless of age.- No legendary WoL-like war gods, Ascians, magical creatures, robots, etc. We allow light lore-bending within reason, but this particular FC is focused on 'regular' races and characters grounded within a reasonable suspension of disbelief for FFXIV.- This is not an ERP-driven group. Do not use our FC for the primary purpose of finding characters to hook up with.- While we are generally of neutral or 'grey' alignment, some may stray into other alignments as well. This does not mean you can make an aggressively evil character bent on screwing everyone else over at every turn; characters may have conflicts at times, but you are expected to understand group dynamics and social cues well enough to read the room and adjust accordingly.- No railroading or attempts to become the main character of a scene unless you are driving a personal arc event that others have agreed to join, or events unfold naturally during an event that focus on a particular character.- No using the Discord as your personal diary/therapist. We support each other, but venting and oversharing cannot be your primary means of communication with us.- You do not have to join the in-game FC to join the Coalition, but you do need to be part of the Discord.

The Coalition is based out of Balmung and as such, some RP may tend toward US timezones. However, we have no restrictions on servers/timezones in terms of members, and so FC-wide events are geared toward the most neutral/available times for all participants, while community-driven events can be in whichever timezone the recruiter prefers.
